Byron Davies started work as an office boy at Old Castle Tinplate Works in 1952 and transferred to Trostre Works in 1956, where he remained as a staff employee until made redundant in 1992.
His active participation into local social and industrial research was inspired by attending a Workers Education Association Workshop run by his mentor-to-be, local historian and author, John Edwards.
This culminated in the publication by the Borough Council in 1996. of 'Dafen Recollections' which was the result of his comprehensive research into the general history of that village.
As a consequence, he was prompted to do similar research on the Glanmorfa Foundry and Engineering Company, which was published in 1999.
Since then he has been instrumental in producing and publishing 'Bynea/Llwynhendy - a History' in 2000, and 'Halfway/Pemberton - A Chronicle', for family and friends, in 2006.
He has also written various articles for local publications.
