The Unveiling of the Interpretive Panels in the Box Cemetery, Llanelli. 02 May 2014
Two interpretive panels were officially unveiled at the Llanelli District Cemetery, familiarly known as "The Box" named for its proximity to the Box Farm and Box Colliery.
The south Panel was unveiled by Cllr. Pamela Edmunds who also presented the pupils of Dafen School with a scaled-down version of the 2.2m x 1.1m panel so that the school's current and future pupils can learn about their local past.
Twenty-two pupils from Dafen School sang songs in the chapel after which tea and cakes were served to guests by the cemetery office staff.
Llanelli Community Heritage provided the carefully researched text and illustrations for the panels.
