The Unveiling of the Town Centre Interpretive Pane
The unveiling of this panel which is the "flagship" of our "fleet" of Interpretive Panels finally took place on Thursday, 23rd March 2023. Our work on the panel had been completed before the long months of Covid so it has been a long wait
Our chairman, Lyn John, made a short address thanking the Town Council for funding the project which had been in preparation for several years, before introducing Mayor Councillor Philip Warlow, who spoke warmly of the contribution Llanelli Community Heritage has made to the amenities of the town.
Although the "veil" had to be held down by two of our members against a strong westerly wind, the rain had stopped, and a small crowd gathered to watch Huw Edwards perform the brief ceremony.
We have been pleased to have him as our president ever since our inception and were gratified by his kind words and the praise he bestowed on our work in promoting appreciation of the long industrial and pre-industrial history of the town.
The back of this panel will soon carry a Town Centre map showing the seventeen Blue Plaques in the immediate vicinity.
